ICD Tan Cang Nhon Trach – new solution for reefer container service at Dong Nai Province

Over the past years, along with the attraction and construction of more industrial zone projects, investment infrastructure, synchronous upgrading, strategic location in the key economic region of the South, has created favorable conditions for Dong Nai Province to boost the development of the trade - service - logistics industry.

By the end of 2020, the province has 31 industrial zones in operation; lease contracts reach more than 80% of industrial land. Therefore, the demand for import and export cargo of enterprises increases enormously, creating a potential market for many logistics services.

However, the lack of transport solutions and the scarcity of empty containers remain a common problem for ICDs in the region, especially those for the reefer containers. In that context, with the attention and direction from SNP’s BOD,  management and employees of MKT Department, as well as those of Tan Cang Logistics, ICD Tan Cang - Nhon Trach, and SITC Shipping line, have collaborated to conduct a solution for executing reefer containers at ICD.

For domestic waterway transport: ICD Nhon Trach is located 6km away from Tan Cang Cat Lai terminal, 10-12 km away from Nhon Trach IP; and 32km away from Cai Mep Ports area (closest compared to other existing  ICDs). With its location and smooth traffic, ICD Tan Cang-Nhon Trach is a convenient logistics node for receiving import and export cargo, especially reefer containers, which is currently the concern of many shippers/consignees in recent times. ICD Tan Cang - Nhon Trach is the best alternative for TC-Cat Lai, Cai Mep, and TC-Hiep Phuoc Ports in term of the  reefer service for the shippers  from Binh Thuan, Dong Nai with the following  advantages in  cost and time:

·         Early receive of export containers, flexible container drop-off time.

·         Convenient transport route.

·         Support for dry/reefer container inspection.

No progressive charges / Free storage / No surcharge for containers received from Cai Mep if ICD TC-Nhon Trach is the final port of destination port on the lading bill (Port of Delivery).

To meet the needs of reefer container services of customers and SITC shipping lines, ICD Tan Cang - Nhon Trach has invested in an infrastructure system with a total area of ​​27.5 hectares and a yard capacity appx. 10,500 TEU; 25 tractors and 08 reach stackers; 20 electric plugs and 12 more are about to be added shortly. PTI and M&R services for reefer containers, monitoring systems, and the strictly deployed reefer operations to maintain containers and cargo in good conditions, avoid any damages to customers. Up to now, SITC is the first shipping line operating reefer container service with 164 empty containers to deliver for booking; This equivalent number of reefer shipments will be dropped off at ICD Tan Cang - Nhon Trach and transferred to Tan Cang Cai Lat for loading. This result has been achieved thanks to the continuous efforts of the Marketing department and the management and employees of Tan Cang Logistics, ICD Tan Cang - Nhon Trach, along with the SITC’s trust and support for SNP throughout the years.
