The 30th anniversary of establishment and receive the first- class labor medal of Saigon Newport

On the morning of 15th March, at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Terminal (HCMC), Saigon Newport (SNP) solemnly celebrated the 30th traditional anniversary of SNP (15/3/1989 – 15/3/2019) and received the First-class Labor Medal.
Attending the ceremony, there were Politburo member, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and members of Party Central Committee, leaders of ministries, branches and localities.

On March 15th 1989, the establishment of SNP marked a new development in the force of the Navy Army, which is the image of the Navy soldiers not only with Ho Chi Minh at sea, 'the road sign, ship without numbers; ' or in the regular presence of day and night in the sea and islands to firmly protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland but also on the production front, economic construction, so that it can start the a Navy enterprise, a military enterprise in the field of marine economy, container port operators and logistics services.

Over the past 30 years, SNP has received over 76.000 , the volume of container throughput has reached nearly 900 million tons, an annual average growth rate was over 20%; total revenue was over VND 160.000 bill; Total profit was over VND 23.000 bill; Total state budget remittance was over VND 9.000 bill, from the owner’s equity was VND 14 bill in 1989 increased to VND 16.402 bill. Import & Export duties of SNP was over VND 50.000 bill/ year. Especially, SNP is assuring about 16-18% of the tax revenue budget of the whole city.
Saigon Newport has become the leading container terminal operator and logistics services provider in Viet Nam with more than 91% market share of the import-export container in Ho Chi Minh City, 70% market share in Cai Mep-Thi Vai and nearly 50% for many years. Saigon Newport ranks the 21st among the largest container port groups in the world; topped the Top 20 leading logistics services enterprises in Vietnam; making an important contribution to the connection of goods circulation, sustainable development of the marine economy, promoting the industrialization and modernization of the country and the international economic integration process.

At the ceremony, The National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan awarded the First-class Labor Medal to the President of Saigon Newport Corporation. Speaking at the ceremony, The National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her congratulations and best wishes to all officers, staff and workers of Saigon Newport Corporation for its 30th anniversary and the first-class Labor Medal. The National Assembly Chairwoman also sent her wish for health and success to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Army officers, People's Armed Force Hero, Labor Heroes and all the delegates attending the ceremony.
The Chairman of the National Assembly stressed that during the past 30 years, as a defense enterprise under the Vietnam People’s Navy, Ministry of Defense, and Saigon Newport Corporation has contributed to the implementation of Vietnam Marine Strategy. Leaders of the Party and State highly appreciate the results of SNP in performing military tasks such as: fulfilling the role of logistics bases and military ports supporting for island areas; patrolling and making reconnaissance the sea; constructing of military projects on border areas and islands, especially in recent years SNP has put into operation Cam Ranh International Port – the largest center in Southeast Asia of logistics and technical services for aircraft carriers, military ship; well performing foreign affairs, affirming the open foreign policy of the Party and State of Vietnam.

The National Assembly Chairwoman asked the Ministry of Defense and the Navy to direct Saigon Newport Corporation to continue to strictly abide the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws; promoting the heroic tradition of the Navy and Saigon Newport Corporation with the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, discipline and high determination of soldiers on doing business and successfully implementing all assigned tasks, continue to pioneer in implementing the Vietnam sustainable marine economic development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, especially to develop a deep-water port system for international transshipment, creating a driving force for marine economic development of the whole country, gradually improveing the Vietnamese brand in the field of marine economy and logistics services.
In addition, the National Assembly Chairwoman suggested that leaders of ministries, departments and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and localities pay attention and created conditions for SNP to promote all resources, increase investment, expand facilities, and well implement defense tasks and business tasks. The National Assembly Chairwoman wished SNP to successfully complete all assigned tasks, contribute many victories and further achievements in the national construction and defense.
