On July 9, 2021, Saigon Newport Corporation successfully organized the webinar "Solutions to connect cargo flow with Cai Mep area". The webinar focused on trends, visions, and solutions for supply chains of import and export goods with the participation of delegations/speakers from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Saigon Newport Corporation. There were nearly 1,000 participants through online platforms..

The unpredictable progress of the Covid-19 Pandemic and maritime incidents have strong negative impacts on the global supply chain. That has caused a series of problems including fluctuations in freight rates, shortage of empty containers, temporary supply chain disruptions, which have created "barriers" for the development of the economy in general and the logistics sector in Vietnam in particular.

As the largest deep-water ports in the country, TCIT and TCTT ports in Cai Mep - Thi Vai area play an important role to ensure the flow of cargo between Vietnam and major markets in the world such as North America. , Europe, and Intrans Asian. The flow of import and export cargo directly via Cai Mep Port has become an advanced trend of the future.

To provide solutions that support customers to have continuous import and export activities during this hard time, the first time Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) organized the Webinar on the topic: "Solutions to connect cargo with Cai Mep Area". The webinar focused on trends and solutions for the supply chain in the area, especially the flow of cargo in the Southeast region connecting with the Cai Mep port area.
 

 

🔵Mr. Truong Tan Loc - Marketing Director of SNP
presented the topic "Development trend of import and export goods through Cai Mep Port area and what enterprises need to prepare".

Mr. Bui Van Quy, Vice President of SNP gave the opening speech. He expressed thanks to the speakers, customers, and partners participating in the Webinar, summarizing the business results of SNP in the first 6 months of 2021.
At the beginning of the workshop, Mr. Truong Tan Loc - Marketing Director of SNP presented the topic "Development trend of import and export goods through Cai Mep Port area and what enterprises need to prepare". Given the current situation of the global supply chain including Lack of empty containers, lack of slots on the vessel, high freight rates; port congestion, vessel delay, long waiting at ports all over the world. This has led to the high inventory at the ports and ICD in the South of Vietnam due to the vessel delay, omit to overbook. The causes of the above problems were identified by three main factors: the impact of the Covid 19 epidemic, incidents in the maritime industry, and the increase in global import and export volume from the third quarter of 2020. Along with the change, there is the trend of shifting the flow of cargo through the Cai Mep Port area, which has grown strongly over the past few years. The speaker emphasized the solutions and recommendations for businesses in the current context classified into 3 groups: import-export enterprises, shipping lines, ports, and ICDs. This has also the most concern of the attendees.

🔵 Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of Agency of Foreign Trade - Ministry of Industry and Trade
gave presentations on the topic "Visions for ICDs development in the Southeast connecting with Cai Mep Port area".

Following the presentation of Mr. Loc, Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of Agency of Foreign Trade - Ministry of Industry and Trade gave presentations on the topic "Visions for ICDs development in the Southeast connecting with Cai Mep Port area". Mr. Hai state that the seaport master plan in the period of 2021-2030 and a vision to 2050 to improve the efficiency of port development in Vietnam and ensures consistency in investment for seaport exploitation; synchronization between the development of seaport infrastructure and connecting traffic infrastructure, between seaport operation and services, which boost regional network in seaport development to contribute to the efficient use of national resources, reduce logistics costs.

Mr. Hai evaluated that the Cai Mep cluster has always been highly expected by the government with the goal develop this port cluster reach regional level by 2030, and become an equal competitor with Singapore Port hub and be the world level by 2045 emphasized with ports in the region, Cai Mep must become a transshipment. And to achieve that goal, Cai Mep must perform well in its function as the gateway port of the Southern Key Economic Region.

🔵 Ms. Do Thu Huong - Deputy Marketing Director of SNP 
presented the topic "The solution to connect Tan Cang - Long Binh ICD, Tan Cang - Nhon Trach ICD with Cai Mep port area".

Regarding the solution to connect Tan Cang - Long Binh ICD, Tan Cang - Nhon Trach ICD with Cai Mep port area, Ms. Do Thu Huong - Deputy Marketing Director of SNP has analyzed the growing market demand, specifically, the information on the growth of Cai Mep market container volume in Cai Mep port area in the last five years and forecast; Dong Nai - Binh Duong market: growth in exports to the US and Europe in the key industries such as wood, apparel, footwear, electronics,... Thereby point out the current status of ICDs and propose solutions for ICD Long Binh / ICD Nhon Trach connecting Cai Mep to continue to upgrade infrastructure, improve production processes to improve capacity through terminals, and ICDs in the system. In addition, continue to develop services of receiving, storing, transporting import and export goods at ICD Long Binh and ICD Nhon Trach facilities. continuously improving service quality, cargo transport capacity between terminals, border crossing by waterway, road connecting ports, ICD in the entire SNP system. It also needs the preparation of the Prepare long-term development plans for new ports and ICDs to meet future import and export growth needs.
